1) Use Strong Lock screen
Using a strong Lock screen is the first step to keep your privacy safe on android . Malware , virus or other software bugs are secondary issues but real life theft is the primary issue. According to a report of 2016 nearly about 34% people do not use screen lock. Due to which there data is stolen.Use the strong Lock screen to protect your data so no one can access your mobile without your permission. Now a days biometric security is most secured then the pattern or password.
To enable screen lock just head on over to Settings -> Security -> Screen Lock. And choose your preferred screen lock.
2) Encrypt Your Data
Encrypting your data keeps your device data safe until the correct password is not entered. It put all of your files into a format that cannot be understood without first decrypting them with the proper key, or a password that only you will know. But there are some things you have to keep in mind :-
* Encryption cannot be undone which cause the, if the process is undone then all your data could be lost.
* After encrypting your data , to remove encryption you have to factory reset you phone.
* This process takes nearly an hour , so the battery must be more then 80%.
* Encryption may slow down your phone because you have to enter password every time when you decrypt your data.
The encryption options can be found under the Settings -> Security menu, where you will find options to protect both the data on your smartphone and microSD card.
3) Manage App Permission
Some people carelessly agree all the permission of every app. Some apps ask to access data which even doesn't required, the app do this to access your data and sell to ad companies. For example why a flashlight app requires to control Wi-Fi and to access your account information.
On or above android 6.0 you you can just head over to Settings->Apps and select the app and tap on “Permissions” to check out its permissions. For older versions with root access can use the app App Opps to manage app permissions.
4) Avoid Apps From Unknown Sources
Install apps only from Google play store or from a trusted store because they thoroughly check all the apps so they do not contain any malware which can steal your data and affect your privacy.
For example XYZ app is very popular but available only in some countries so for the other countries it is not available. So that want to download the apk but it is not available in the store so they download the apk from an unknown source. That app contains
Malware. There's a some ways to install it from the Play Store even if it’s not available in your country.
5) Install Some Apps to Be Safe
* Antivirus :- Google play store checks every app but having another security is good.
* VPN :- VPN is best way to be hidden while surfing on internet so people can't track you.
* Privacy Advisor :- These apps advise you to change the required setting keep your privacy.
* App Lock :- These apps lock your chosen apps so no one can open them until right password is not provided.
