As more than the half of the world's population has the internet access and they search different things on the internet. As you are using internet then you have definitely heard about the surface web , deep web and the dark web. These are three phases of the internet. Let us learn something about these.
As in the above picture only surface web is visible to us but deep and dark are not visible to us.
According to the reports surface web is only the 4% of the internet. Surface web is accessible to everyone and found on Google or any of your favorite search engine. Anyone can go to these sites without using any data encrypt-er. Surface is in under constant surveillance of the government.
Deep web is 90% of the internet. These sites cannot be found on search engine. These are not accessible to everyone. You can't go to these sites until you don't know the exact url of the site or have the permission to access these sites. Mostly the activists , companies use these sites. Deep web is used for web mails, online banking , or the services you have to pay for.
There is lot of confusion between the dark web and the deep web. Dark web is part of deep web but it has different definition from the deep web. Dark web is accessible to everyone but you can't use these sites until use have the service to make your data encrypted and makes you anonymous so no one track your activity. The mostly used service is TOR ( The Onion Router ) which bounces your IP to different places.
On Dark web illegal activities like human trafficking , hitman appointing, drugs , virus, child pornography and many other illegal activities. Many sites are banned by the government and many people are got arrested. But still the internet is full of these illegal activities.
